The Largs Film Society was started in January 2006, following a proposal by local film buff Peter Allam in May 2005. His vision was to have a film society similar to the Glasgow Film Theatre.
The first screening was “The House of the Flying Daggers”, well received by an initial membership of 65 people. This was the first film to be shown in Largs since the closure of the cinema 3 years previously.
The Society received Lottery Funding in October 2010 to purchase new equipment.
We have screenings approximately every 3 weeks in the Vikingar Cinema from September till May each year, on Friday evenings at 7.00 pm.
Our back catalogue of films is available for to members to borrow.
